Sarajevo Airport Car Rental Pickup Guide: What to Expect

Picking up a rental car after a flight should be the easy part of your trip. At DUO Enterprise Rent a Car there is no rental desk queue and no shuttle bus. Here is how rent a car Sarajevo airport pickup works with us, from booking to the road into the city.

Before You Fly: Booking and Confirmation

Book online at least three days before your arrival. This gives us time to prepare your vehicle and plan the handover around your flight. You can compare the available cars on our fleet page.

After you submit your booking, you will receive two emails:

• Request received – an automatic message confirming we have your request.
• Booking confirmation – sent once we have checked availability, with a PDF of your reservation details.

Save the PDF on your phone or print it. It also contains the phone number to call if anything changes. There is no online payment: you pay by card when you collect the car.

Add your flight number

When booking, enter your flight number. This lets us track your arrival, so if your flight is delayed, our staff member will still be there to meet you.

On Arrival: Meet and Greet in the Arrivals Hall

Once you have collected your luggage and passed through customs, walk out into the arrivals hall. A member of our team will be waiting for you there. With this meet and greet service, you go straight from the plane to your car.

If you cannot spot us right away, simply call the phone number in your booking confirmation.

What to Bring for Pickup

To keep the handover quick, please have these ready:

• Passport or national ID card
• Valid driving licence for every person who will drive the car
• Credit or debit card for payment. If you choose Basic insurance, the same card is also used for the security deposit.

Vehicle Check, Fuel and Return

Before you drive away, we walk around the car together, note any existing scratches or dents and take photos, so both sides have a clear record. Feel free to take your own photos and ask about anything you are unsure of.

As a general rule for fuel, return the car with the same level you received it with. Filling up shortly before the return helps you avoid extra charges.

Tips for Leaving the Airport

The airport lies on the south-western edge of Sarajevo, and the city centre is a short drive away. A few tips for your first kilometres:

• Set up your navigation before leaving the parking area and follow the signs for "Centar".
• Dipped headlights are required at all times in Bosnia and Herzegovina, day and night.
• Parking near the old town (Baščaršija) is limited. Use a public garage or a marked parking zone and check the signs for how to pay.
• In winter, roads into the mountains can be snowy, so plan extra time.
