Rental terms and conditions

These general terms and conditions apply to every car rental with DUO ENTERPRISES d.o.o. Sarajevo, Kurta Schorka 36, 71210 Sarajevo (Ilidža) (registration number 4200000000000, VAT number 200000000000), hereinafter "DUO ENTERPRISES" or "we". "User" means the person who books and rents the car. The terms form part of the rental contract signed at pickup, together with the price list and our rental information. By confirming a booking you accept these terms.

1. Booking and confirmation

A booking made on our website is a rental request. After you submit it, you receive an email confirming that we have received the request. The rental is confirmed when we send you the rental confirmation by email, together with a PDF document. The car shown is an example of the booked category: you receive this model or a similar car of the same category, or a free upgrade.

At pickup, the User signs the rental contract, which is made in two identical copies, one for DUO ENTERPRISES and one for the User.

2. Rental requirements

  • The main driver and every additional driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • At pickup, every driver presents a passport or national ID card and a driving licence. If the licence is not in Latin script, an International Driving Permit is also required.
  • A credit card in the main driver’s name is required as security and for payment.
  • Companies also present proof that the person renting is authorised to act for them, such as a power of attorney and the company stamp.

3. Rental period

  • The minimum rental period is 3 days. Every started 24-hour period counts as a full rental day.
  • We tolerate a delay of up to 60 minutes when the car is returned. After that, a further rental day is charged according to the current price list.
  • The maximum rental period is 12 months. DUO ENTERPRISES decides on the length of each rental at its discretion.
  • The User returns the car at the end of the rental period, at the place and time stated in the contract, or earlier if DUO ENTERPRISES requests it.
  • To extend a rental, the User first settles all amounts due under the current contract, and a new contract is signed.

4. Prices and payment

  • All prices are in euros (EUR) and include VAT, unlimited mileage and airport pickup and return.
  • The total price consists of the rental price for the car, the chosen insurance package and any selected options. It is shown before you confirm the booking.
  • Payment is made by credit or debit card at pickup. Payment in convertible marks (BAM) is calculated at the fixed rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 BAM.
  • Fuel, traffic and parking fines, tolls and similar costs incurred during the rental are paid by the User (see sections 10 and 13).

5. Deposit

With the Basic insurance package, a deposit of €1,200.00 is blocked on a credit card in the main driver’s name at pickup. The deposit is released after the car is returned in the agreed condition. Damage, missing fuel or unpaid charges may be deducted from the deposit. With the Full coverage package no deposit is required.

6. Handover and condition of the car

  • The User receives a technically sound car together with the vehicle documents, the keys, the mandatory equipment and any additional equipment listed in the contract. By signing the contract, the User confirms receiving the car in this condition.
  • If a defect occurs during the rental, the User stops driving immediately and informs DUO ENTERPRISES without delay.
  • Damage to the engine, gearbox, clutch, drive train or other major parts (for example from driving with too little oil or coolant, or with an overheated engine) is assessed jointly at an authorised service centre. If the damage was caused by the User’s negligence, the User pays for the repair in full and for the loss of use at the rental price of the current price list, for a maximum of 30 days.

7. Use of the car

The User uses the car with due care and in line with the traffic rules. In particular, the User must not:

  • use the car for illegal purposes, including criminal offences and breaches of customs regulations;
  • use the car for driving lessons, motor sport, racing or off-road driving;
  • sublet the car, carry passengers or goods for payment, or tow other vehicles or trailers;
  • drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other intoxicating substances;
  • overload the car with passengers or luggage;
  • replace parts or equipment or change the appearance of the car without the written consent of DUO ENTERPRISES. Replaced or missing parts are charged at their market value, at the latest on the day the car is returned.

The User always locks the car and uses the anti-theft devices provided, and allows a person authorised by DUO ENTERPRISES to inspect the car and its documents at any time. If the User breaches these rules, the User compensates DUO ENTERPRISES for the full damage.

8. Drivers

Only the User and the additional drivers named in the rental contract may drive the car. Additional drivers must be booked as an option and meet the requirements in section 2. The User and the named drivers are jointly liable.

9. Travelling abroad

  • Leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina requires the approval of DUO ENTERPRISES, which you obtain by booking the Cross-border option. The option requires the Full coverage package and includes the documents needed at the border, including the green card.
  • With approval, the car may be driven to Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Switzerland. Travel to other countries is not permitted, and the car may only be used in continental Europe.
  • If the User crosses the border without approval, the insurance cover is void and the User bears all costs towards DUO ENTERPRISES and the authorities of the country concerned.

10. Fuel

The car is handed over with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Missing fuel is charged according to the current price list.

11. Insurance and liability

  • The rental price includes the third-party liability insurance required by law.
  • Basic insurance: your liability for damage to the car and for theft is limited to the amount of the deposit.
  • Full coverage insurance: your liability for damage to the car is reduced to zero.
  • No insurance package covers damage to the interior or the underside of the car, broken or lost keys, or damage caused by using the wrong fuel.
  • The insurance cover does not apply, and the User pays the full damage, if the damage is caused intentionally or through negligence, while driving under the influence of alcohol, medication or drugs, by a person not named in the contract or without a valid licence for the vehicle category, abroad without approval, or otherwise in breach of these terms.
  • Damage that is not covered is charged at the latest when the car is returned.

12. Accidents, damage, theft and breakdowns

A police report is mandatory. In the event of an accident, damage or theft, the User:

  1. immediately informs the police and DUO ENTERPRISES and follows their instructions;
  2. waits for the police to make an official report, also when the car was damaged while the User was away, for example in a car park by an unknown person;
  3. completes the European Accident Statement correctly and in full;
  4. does not leave the car until its handover to DUO ENTERPRISES has been arranged.

In the event of a breakdown, contact us before arranging any repair and give DUO ENTERPRISES a written statement. If the User does not obtain a police report or does not complete the accident statement, the full damage or the value of the stolen car is charged to the User, whatever insurance package was chosen.

13. Traffic fines, tolls and parking

The User is responsible for traffic and parking fines, tolls and similar charges incurred during the rental period. Fines that the User has not paid by the time the car is returned are charged to the User together with an administrative fee according to our rental information.

14. Our liability

DUO ENTERPRISES is not liable for damage caused to third parties by the User’s improper driving, or for the loss of or damage to luggage or goods carried in or on the car.

15. Changes, cancellation and no-show

  • Changes and cancellations are free of charge up to 48 hours before the agreed pickup time.
  • For later cancellations, and if you do not collect the car without cancelling (no-show), we may charge one rental day.
  • If you return the car early, the unused rental days are not refunded.

16. Personal data

We process your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.

17. Applicable law and disputes

These terms and the rental contract are governed by the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in particular the Law on Obligations. The parties try to settle any dispute amicably. If this is not possible, the Commercial Court in Sarajevo has jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection rules provide otherwise.
